Egypt’s Mufti Gives a Speech at MWL Global Conference on Islamic Schools of Thought

Egypt’s Grand Mufti, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, delivered a speech as part of his participation at the global conference titled “Building Bridges between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects”.

Dr. Allam stated that differences in thought are an inevitable reality, constituting the divine law of God in His creation. He emphasized the importance of respecting differences of opinion, accepting them, coexisting with them, acknowledging their existence, and recognizing the impossibility of uniting people under one opinion and one sect.

In conclusion of his remarks, the Grand Mufti underscored that the differences among the imams and jurists of Islamic schools of thought did not pertain to fundamental faith matters or unequivocal religious rulings, but rather to jurisprudential branches derived from conjectural evidence.

The global conference on "Building Bridges between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects” was held in Mecca from March 18 to 19, under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and organized by the Muslim World League.
